Jan and Steve Prayer Requests….

Sorry these are late. More tomorrow probably.

Continue to pray for our team mates as they are traveling back and forth to villages and also staying overnight with nationals to do the final testing for the oral Bible stories.

· A group of volunteers from Arkansas and Florida are currently on the field with our team to help enter new villages. Pray for men and women to be saved through the witness of the volunteers and the national Believers translating for them.

The Rubados, South Asia

Please pray for our partners serving in South Asia…do it now!

· The oral Bible story project is in its final stages. Our team mates and nationals have experienced attacks of discouragement and it has been difficult acquiring the much needed feedback from testing groups. Pray fervently for our team mates and others involved in this project.

· Our family, one other team mate, and six nationals recently attended a very practical, hands on training for ministering physically and spiritually to our people. Pray for God’s love to transform lives through preventative health care, provision of water filters, teaching how to grow vegetable gardens and productive livestock management.

Update From Lebanon (from Brandon W.)

Hello Church,

I feel like I’ve been doing a poor job updating you. There is so much going on here! I miss you all so much, and I hope you’re all doing well. Let me tell you some of the things we’ve seen here these past few months. For Christmas we had a Christmas party where we invited all of our friends. At the party we just hung out, had some food and snacks, and eventually were going to watch a movie. To transition to the movie I stood up and made an announcement and shared the True meaning of Christmas and why it was important for me. I wasn’t sure how this was going to pan out with our friends, but it went well. A few of them asked me questions about Christ and my life afterwards. It was amazing!

We’ve also found a Bible Study of believers on one of our university’s campus. There are three guys who are definately believers (one is from a druze background and is being persecuted by his family), and about 4 others to come regularly. We have been really excited to plug ourselves into this group and use their faith as the building blocks for a movement on this campus. Please pray that they continue to grow and that more in their group would trust the Lord as their Savior. We’re currently trying to find the best way to disciple the leaders of the group so that they can disciple the others.

South Asia - Team Report (from Paul B.)

People call South Asia a storytelling culture.  It’s a place where myths and legends are common knowledge, where oftentimes the best way to communicate a message is through a parable.  But what I’m about to tell you is a true story.
Our group spent the latter part of Christmas Break in South Asia, traveling to various cities, towns, and villages to help spread the good news about Jesus.  The ministry looked different from day to day.  We did toothbrush distributions and dental hygiene lessons in rural schools.  We spoke to churches and encouraged them to continue sharing the grace they’ve received.  Sometimes we’d be given an hour’s notice before we were to deliver a sermon or song. New requests from Steve and Jan in South Asia

  • Praise the Lord for two who were baptized this past Sunday. Pray for others who have confessed Jesus as Savior but have not taken this step of obedience.
  • Community development workers are making progress in several villages. Pray for their work to be a living example of Jesus’ love and for them to take every opportunity to share God’s Word with villagers especially leaders.

New Prayer Requests for Jan and Steve

  • A fellowship of Believers will be trained in church planting the end of November. Pray for their encouragement and for them to share the Gospel with their neighbors.
  • Our team will take time the first week of December to sharpen our work skills and to get away for a retreat. Pray for this to be a productive and enjoyable time.

Pray for Steve and Jan in South Asia

  • In October, twenty-eight women started attending a three session breast cancer awareness program which presents the Gospel in the final session. Some women attending are Believers. Pray for them to use this to witness to our PG and for those who are not Believers to be saved.
  • Pray for our national partners to live pure, honest lives and for husbands to cherish their wives.
  • Praise the Lord for our 3 year old’s improved health!
  • We will be involved in two separate trainings this week. Pray for trainees to reproduce what they learn so more may hear the Gospel.
  • Pray for three of our team mates who are in the final stages of the oral Bible project. Pray for perseverance for them and national partners to finish strong.

Another Update

So I’ve been here a little over 50 days now. Continue to pray for me! Our time has continued to be productive and we’ve now met 149 students, had 29 spiritual conversations, and shared the Gospel 10 times. Continue to pray that we would be bold with the Gospel here. As we meet so many students, I think it’s now hard to mange these relationships and continue to push some of the relationships to deeper friendships. Pray that God would show me which students he would love me to pour the most into.

Our leaders came this week for a coaching trip and it was wonderful. They gave us many tips to help keep our team unified, how to continue to try and start a movement here, and just general things about stuggles that one faces while Overseas. So now I just continue to push on and work for the Gospel. Please e-mail me at Overflow4487@aol.com with your prayer requests. I would love to be in prayer for the church and for individuals who may be going through some hard times.
